About Kenya Airways

Kenya Airways Ltd., which is now internationally known as Kenya Airways, is the national carrier of Kenya. The company was completely established in the year 1977, after the closure of the airlines called East African Airways. The head office of Kenya Airways is situated in Embakasi, Nairobi. The principle hub of the airline is at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Kenya Airways was completely owned by the Kenyan Government up to April 1995. After that it was privatised in the year 1996. It was the first African national carrier to successfully get privatised.

Kenya Airways airline has received numerous accolades for various services they provide. Some of the distinguished awards that they got are:

  • Africa’s Leading Economy Airline won at the World Travel Awards in the year 2011.

  • Consecutively named the Best Kenya Flag Bearer at the Marketing Society of Kenya Awards in the years 2011 and 2010.

Kenya Airways Destinations

Kenya Airways have existing code sharing agreements in place with 21 international airlines which fly to most corners of the planet.

Kenya Airways flies to 54 destinations out of which 44 of them are within the borders of Africa. They aim to add six new destinations a year in order to help more people travel across the globe using their world class service.

Over the next two years they plan to start flight services to Chongqing, Hyderabad, and Washington, D.C., Ahmedabad, Moscow and Xiamen.

The current fleet of Kenya Airways has 37 aircraft. As of now they are running all their planes and have no new planes ordered. The current feelt comprises Four Boeing 737-700s, eight Boeing 737-800s, eight Boeing 787–8, 15 Embraer ERJ-190s, 2 Boeing 737-300Fs.
