About Fly Dubai

Fly Dubai is a low-cost option for international air travel. It was started by the Government of Dubai in 2008. It first began operations in the year 2009. The company is headquartered at Terminal 2, Dubai International Airport. This also serves as its main hub.

Initially the company was supported by the Emirates group, however it was and is not a part of the Emirates group. They are however owned by the same group and that is just about how much the two airlines overlap.

They are known to provide high quality service and are one of the most comfortable airlines. Due to their success and commitment they have received a few accolades in the past. Some of the awards are:

  • Outstanding Contribution to Aviation trophy 2012-The Aviation Business Awards

  • Best low-cost Airline of the year 2011 and 2012 - The Aviation Business Awards

  • Middle East's Leading Low Cost Airline 2012 and 2013 - The World Travel Awards

One of the major differentiating factors for FlyDubai is that it is the proud owner of the world's youngest fleet. Its fleet consists of Boeing 737-800s which are considered to be the most eco-friendly aircraft.

Fly Dubai began operating flights from Al-Maktoum International due to increased traffic.
