About Biman Bangladesh Airlines
Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national flag carrier of Bangladesh began its operations in 1972. It is the largest airlines in the country of Bangladesh. It is well known for its proficiency, friendliness and security.
When it came into existence, it started only domestic flights within Bangladesh. However, after its success it started international flights. The domestic first few sectors that it flew was from the city of Dhaka to Chittagong, Jessore and Sylhet. Eventually, these became its main hubs. Its major hub is the Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. The secondary hub from where they operate flights are the Osmani International Airport in Sylhet and the Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.
It provides airlines facilities to fly passengers as well as cargo. The Frequent-flyer program that it runs is called the Biman Loyalty Club which is not a part of any international alliance. The airlines faced an economical sand storm in 2005-06 which saw them reduce their flights considerably. However, they have managed to stay afloat.
Biman Bangladesh Destinations
The airline currently serves flights to 21 cities across 15 countries. They predominantly fly international flights to Europe and Asia. Some of the other destinations that they fly to include Bahrain, Germany, France, Greece, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and United Kingdom etc.
Biman Bangladesh Fleet and Network
The current in-service fleet of the Biman Bangladesh Airlines comprises 12 aircraft. Those 12 include four Boeing 737-800s, two Boeing 777-200ERs, four Boeing 777-300ERs and two Bombardier Dash 8 Q400s.
For the future, they have ordered four more Boeing 787-8s with the plan to expand business operations with more routes.
